EVENTS

1. MARLO'S KICK OFF MEETING - CYPRUS 

The kick-off meeting of the project took place in Tochni, CYPRUS, on 13-14 November 2013. One day of the meeting was devoted to project management issues and discussion of the activities to be implemented in the first months of the project. On the other day of the meeting, the partners had a number of study visits - to a vegetable nursery, local farms and companies that  produce carob powder, olive oil, and halloumi cheese. There are new marketing opportunities related to cooperation with tourism sector, that some of  these producers have already started to exploit.


e.g. the farm that makes cheese accepts visits of the clients of surrounding agrotourism establshments, and the olive oil factory is happy to demonstrate their production process, which translates into some additional sales. However, MARLO could offer training and advice on how to expand these marketing efforts and make them more organised and effective.


2. INTERNATIONAL TOURISM FAIR MADRID. FITUR 2014

Presentation of MARLO at FITUR, the International Tourism Fair Held in Madrid (22/2/2014) - During the international tourism fair members of the team of AEI Cluster de Turismo de Extremadura presented the project and its objectives to the stakeholders in the field of tourism present at the fair


3. ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS OF  AEI TOURISM CLUSTER EXTREMADURA. 24/02/2014

Presentation of MARLO during the annual encounter and conference of the members of the tourism cluster. With a presence of the majority of the almost 70 cluster members and relevant other stakeholders in the field of tourism and public policy, the project was presented and explained. Members were invited to participate actively in the activities of the project. 


4. MARLO´S MEETING in RIGA

The 1st Progress Meeting of the MARLO Project took place in Riga (Latvia) on the 4th and 5th of June 2014. All consortium members participated in the meeting. The first day was devoted to study visits to local farms dedicated to organic food production. On the other day, the partners presented the MARLO needs analysis by country, as well as the main conclusions obtained, the presentation of the dissemination plan took place too. Finally, there was time for defining the next steps of the project. 


5. SECOND PROGRESS MEETING & STUDY VISIT IN KAUNAS, LITHUANIA. 13 & 14TH OF MAY.

The second progress meeting of MARLO Project took place in Kaunas (Lithuania) on the 13 and 14th of May 2015. During the first day MARLO partners had the opportunity of visiting some local businesses in the fields of agriculture and tourism in both Kaunas and Vilnius areas: Lavender Villages, Dalios Sodyba and Aspersa snail farm, enjoying also a mead tasting produced by Erikas Augustinavicious. The second day was dedicated to revise the project current status, especially with regards to the piloting and training tool final arrangements, and to define the next steps of the project.


6. FINAL PROJECT MEETING IN CÁCERES, SPAIN. 17th & 18th SEPT.

MARLO final meeting took place in Cáceres (Spain), days 24th and 25th September. Also the final conference´s activities were celebrated in the same place and dates, aiming to maximize the synergies and networking between partners, international stakeholders and conference attendees.

Morning of 24th was dedicated to the meeting, and the main points discussed were:

  •  Results and conclusions of pilot and evaluation phase, improvements in training tools.
  • Dissemination status and activities done by the partners.
  • Exploitation and sustainability.
  • Management issues.
  • MARLO final steps.  

Friday, 25th sept, was dedicated to the project study visit: partners visited Pastoralia - Torta del Casar Interpretative Centre. 

During their visit, partners visited the museum, but also enjoyed a guided tour through the cheese factory, saw the graffiti painted wall located in the installations and tasted several kinds of cheese produced by the company.
